But first, some background\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneymetals.com\/silver-american-eagle-one-ounce-coin\/9\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-reponsive content-img-right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.moneymetals.com\/uploads\/content\/2019-1oz-american-silver-eagles-reverse-sm.jpg\" alt=\"1 Oz Silver Eagles (Reverse)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As a result of legislation backed by Senator Jesse Helms and Congressman Ron Paul, the U.S. Mint first struck Silver and Gold Eagles in 1986. The iconic design has remained the same since the coins were first minted over three decades ago.<\/p>\n<p>The obverse of the Silver Eagle has featured Adolph Weinman\u2019s famous \u201cWalking Liberty\u201d along with the year at the bottom of the coin\u2019s front side.
