The Brexit Party will not contest the 317 seats the Conservatives won at the last election\u2026 But what we will do is concentrate our total effort into all the seats that are held by the Labour Party, who have completely broken their manifesto pledge in 2017 to respect the result of the referendum. And we will also\u00a0take on the rest of the Remainer\u00a0parties. We will stand up and we will fight them all.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>Farage to Block Lib Dem Elections<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Farage also told his supporters:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI have tried over the course of the last few months to build a Leave alliance \u2026 But that effectively has come to nought. It\u2019s been very, very difficult.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Farage explained that private polling indicated Brexit candidates \u201cfrom SW London to Hampshire and right out through a western corridor to Land\u2019s End\u201d would split the Tory vote and result in a \u201clarge number of Liberal Democrat gains\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Johnsons Welcomes Farage Move<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The news was welcomed by the government, which now has a far higher chance of holding onto the seats won at the last election.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the news, Johnson said he was pleased with Farage\u2019s \u201crecognition that another gridlocked hung parliament is the greatest threat to getting Brexit done\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIf we have another hung parliament it would lead to two more chaotic referendums next year.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Striking an optimistic note, Johnson said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe Conservatives only need nine more seats to win a majority and leave by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbex.com\/blog\/en\/2019\/11\/gbp-rallies-on-brexit-delay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the end of January<\/a>\u00a0with a deal.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>Corbyn Slams \u201cTrump Alliance\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>However, the reaction outside of the government was not so positive. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn launched a scathing criticism of the move, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOne week ago Donald Trump told Nigel Farage to make a pact with Boris Johnson. Today, Trump got his wish. This Trump alliance is Thatcherism on steroids and could send \u00a3500m a week from our NHS to big drugs companies. It must be stopped.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>No-Deal Brexit Risks Rising?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Adam Price, leader of the Plaid Cymru party of Wales was also heavily critical, claiming that the pact raises the risk of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbex.com\/blog\/en\/2019\/08\/10-disaster-no-deal-brexit-scenarios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no-deal Brexit.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Price said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThat Nigel Farage is willing to endorse Boris Johnson is proof that they are planning to deliver a disastrous no deal.\u00a0The fact that he assumes there will be no extension at the end of the next phase is evidence enough that a crash-out Brexit is an inevitability in the eyes of the Brexiteers.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>UK Avoids Technical Recession<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On the data front, GBP was higher yesterday as the preliminary Q3 GDP reading came in at 0.3%. This was just below the forecast 0.4% reading the market was looking for. However, it was an increase from the prior quarter\u2019s -0.2% reading.<\/p>\n<p>There were fears that another negative number would confirm a technical recession in the UK. However, with the UK not falling into recession over the last quarter, GBP traders have reacted with relief.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Technical Perspective<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.countingpips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/guh4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-159664\" src=\"https:\/\/www.countingpips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/guh4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1596\" height=\"743\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.investmacro.com\/forex\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/guh4.png 1596w, https:\/\/www.investmacro.com\/forex\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/guh4-300x140.png 300w, https:\/\/www.investmacro.com\/forex\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/guh4-768x358.png 768w, https:\/\/www.investmacro.com\/forex\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/guh4-1024x477.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1596px) 100vw, 1596px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The rally above the 1.2782 level has stalled for now. Price is correcting within a contracting channel pattern. While 1.2782 holds, a further move higher is likely with 1.3214 the next big level to watch to the upside.
