The talks are part of her battle to break the political deadlock preventing her from gaining backing for her deal.<\/p>\n<p>The government added that should May\u2019s deal be defeated in parliament once again, the country will face either a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbex.com\/blog\/en\/2019\/03\/what-would-happen-in-no-deal-brexit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cno deal\u201d Brexit sce<\/a>n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbex.com\/blog\/en\/2019\/03\/what-would-happen-in-no-deal-brexit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ario<\/a>, or Article 50 being revoked.<\/p>\n<p>May has so far suffered three defeats in parliament. In fact, her first loss marked the largest ever government defeat in the House of Commons. Jeremy McDonnell of the Labour party told reporters:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOur big problem now is if we\u2019re going to march our troops in Parliament to the top of the hill to vote for a deal and then that\u2019s overturned, literally, in weeks, I think that would be a cataclysmic act of bad faith.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For now,\u00a0<strong>traders wait to hear any details from the ongoing cross-party talks<\/strong>. These will be used to gauge whether May is likely to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>The issue now is that there is more potential that a second referendum could come down the line. This will only be if May suffers another defeat, in order to avoid the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbex.com\/blog\/en\/2019\/03\/what-would-happen-in-no-deal-brexit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UK leaving without a deal.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Technical Perspective<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orbex.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/gbpusd1505.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener prettyphoto noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-82473 size-full b-loaded\" src=\"https:\/\/www.orbex.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/gbpusd1505.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1596\" height=\"743\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>GBPUSD is at a very interesting technical juncture. After<strong>\u00a0breaking down through the bottom of the 1.33 \u2013 1.30 range<\/strong>, price is now testing structural and trend line support at the 1.2895 level.<\/p>\n<p>We could view the rising trend line as the neckline to the<strong>\u00a0large head and shoulders pattern<\/strong>\u00a0which has formed over the year. The left shoulder being in January, the head in March and right shoulder in May.
