Silver Speculators trimmed net bullish positions for 2nd week

Silver speculative positions declined last week

Silver Futures (CMX): Silver speculators and large futures traders slightly decreased their silver bullish bets last week for a second straight week, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Friday.

The non-commercial futures contracts of Comex silver futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net position of +34,545 contracts in the data reported through April 14th. This was a weekly change of -7,536 contracts from the previous week’s total of +42,081 net contracts that was registered on April 7th.

The decrease in the net speculator positions reflects a decrease in the weekly bullish positions by 1,824 contracts combined with an increase in the weekly bearish positions by 5,712 contracts to get the weekly change of -7,536 contracts.

Over the weekly reporting time-frame, from Tuesday April 7th to Tuesday April 14th, the silver price declined from approximately $16.84 to $16.16, according to silver futures price data from investing.com.
