Jeff Reeves at The Slant<\/em><\/strong><\/a> did a write-up on Facebook ($<\/span>FB<\/a>)<\/strong> and GSV Capital ($<\/span>GSVC<\/a>)<\/strong> that featured some comments from my last newsletter:<\/p>\n You\u2019ve heard of Facebook<\/strong>, but you\u2019ve probably never heard of GSV Capital<\/strong>.<\/p>\n But if I told you\u00a0GSV Capital is a major Facebook investor gapped up almost 50% in the last month, you\u2019re probably a bit more interested. Right?<\/p>\n …<\/p>\n One investor who wasn\u2019t surprised was Charles Sizemore, who touted GSV Capital way back in January<\/a> right here on the The Slant<\/em>.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s what he had \u00a0to say in his latest issue of the Sizemore Investment Letter<\/em><\/a>\u00a0now that he\u2019s been validated in his call:<\/p>\n \u201cThe market noticed the\u00a0big \u2018free money\u2019 sign hanging in front of GSV\u00a0Capital\u2019s door. After languishing\u00a0for all of 2013, GSV\u2019s shares have risen by more\u00a0than half in the past month. And I expect further\u00a0gains of 50%-100% in the coming 12 months.<\/p>\n The good news is that GSV is still cheap. Its book value as of June 30 is estimated to be about $250 million. Its market cap, even after the run-up, is still just $227 million. So, GSV is trading at a discount to book of about 9%, and again, I expect that book value to be revised upward as investor enthusiasm grows for Twitter.<\/p>\n If you haven\u2019t bought shares yet, it\u2019s not too late. But do be careful. GSVC is a tiny company with a low average trading volume.
