They expect to inherit it.<\/p>\n<p>But experts say most of their parents&#8217; assets will\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.heraldsun.com.au\/money\/money-matters\/think-youre-getting-an-inheritance-think-again\/story-fn312ws8-1226472514056\">dwindle\u00a0<\/a>before it falls into the laps of the youngest adult generation. A recent\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.heraldsun.com.au\/money\/money-matters\/think-youre-getting-an-inheritance-think-again\/story-fn312ws8-1226472514056\">TD Ameritrade<\/a>\u00a0survey suggest that just 16 percent of parents plan on leaving anything for their GenZ kids.<\/p>\n<p>That points back to a recurring problem shared among the past three generations, says <strong>Charles Sizemore<\/strong>, manager of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/covestor.com\/sizemore-capital\/dividend-growth\">Dividend Growth<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/covestor.com\/sizemore-capital\/\">three other\u00a0<\/a><a title=\"Investment Models\" href=\"http:\/\/search.covestor.com\/\">investment models<\/a>\u00a0offered by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.covestor.com\/\">Covestor<\/a>: Not socking away enough money in prime earning years.<\/p>\n<p>The same can be said of the Baby Boomers and, for that matter, every generation that has followed. All were chronic under savers for most of their working lives, accrding to Sizemore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd most cannot expect to have their retirements funded by an inheritance,\u201d\u00a0he says.<\/p>\n<p>In most cases, it\u2019s a problem of division. Most Boomers have multiple siblings, and any inheritance would likely be split among heirs. So a nest egg that supported one couple in retirement will now be split into two or more pieces for each of the children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnless the parents were extremely wealthy or their children&#8217;s spending habits very modest, it is hard to see much of a windfall effect,\u201d Sizemore says.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t help that most portfolios have seen little growth in the last decade and that end-of-life expenses (i.e. large medical bills) often have a devastating effect.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No related posts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By The Sizemore Letter The following article by Michael Tarsala was originally published by Covestor.
