{"id":29996,"date":"2012-06-01T18:57:00","date_gmt":"2012-06-01T22:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/countingpips.com\/forex-news\/2012\/06\/monetary-policy-week-in-review-2-june-2012\/"},"modified":"2012-06-01T18:57:00","modified_gmt":"2012-06-01T22:57:00","slug":"monetary-policy-week-in-review-2-june-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.investmacro.com\/forex-news\/2012\/06\/01\/monetary-policy-week-in-review-2-june-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Monetary Policy Week in Review &#8211; 2 June 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Central Bank News<br \/>\n<span>The past week in monetary policy saw interest rate decisions announced by 8 central banks around the world. &nbsp;Those that altered interest rates were: Brazil, cutting 50 basis points to a low of 8.50%; Denmark, trimming a further -15bps to 0.45%; and Uganda dropping -100bps to 20.00%. &nbsp;Meanwhile the central banks that held interest rates unchanged were: Hungary 7.00%, Turkey 5.75%, Zambia 9.00%, Colombia 5.25%, and Israel 2.50%. &nbsp;Elsewhere in monetary policy, the Central Bank of Egypt cut its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centralbanknews.info\/p\/interest-rates.html\">RRR<\/a> -200bps to 10 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-HNY7phzS6U4\/T8lGQaHo88I\/AAAAAAAAAVo\/PnNjltX4VLY\/s1600\/Monetary+Policy+Rates+2+June+2012.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"250\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-HNY7phzS6U4\/T8lGQaHo88I\/AAAAAAAAAVo\/PnNjltX4VLY\/s400\/Monetary+Policy+Rates+2+June+2012.jpg\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><span><\/span><br \/><a name='more'><\/a>Looking at the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.centralbanknews.info\/p\/central-bank-calendar.html\">central bank calendar<\/a><span><span><span>, the week ahead is set to be a big one in terms of monetary policy meetings. &nbsp;However the RBA is expected to hold fire at 3.75% this time, likewise the BOC is expected to hold at 1.00%, and the ECB and BoE are expected to hold at 1.00% and 0.50%&nbsp;<\/span><span>respectively<\/span><span>; and keep their asset purchase programs unchanged. &nbsp;Of course this does not preclude them from taking action, as the economic and geopolitical backdrop arguably warrants action.
